September
September 11: Tony McManus -
To find a unique voice on so ubiquitous an instrument as the
acoustic guitar is quite an achievement: to do so within a centuries old idiom
where the instrument has no real history is truly remarkable. In little over ten
years as a professional musician Tony McManus has come to be recognized
throughout the world as the leading guitarist in Celtic Music.
Showtime 8:00 PM
Tickets $13 in advance and $15 at the Door.

September 25: Dixie Bee-Liners
- "Every car on the highway has a story,"
states BRANDI HART.
Hart should know. As lead singer and co-writer for roots-music phenoms THE DIXIE
BEE-LINERS, she's in the business of telling stories. "Our new CD Susanville is
a collection of tales from the American highway... where people are going, what
they've left behind, and the things they experience along the way. It's our love
letter to the open road."
Building on the tremendous success of their 2008 chart-topper RIPE, The
Bee-Liners blaze a bold new trail with Susanville -- a concept album that takes
listeners on a musical road trip along America's highways and byways. The band's
second full-length work, Susanville peers into the cars and trucks in America's
cities and towns, bringing to life 19 breathtaking musical moments along
America's interstates and byways. The band employs its signature blend of hooks
and harmonies, exploring themes such as escape, adventure, memory, and regret.

October
October 2 - Pete Huttlinger -
“In Pete Huttlinger’s hands, a fingerpicked flat-top becomes a
mini-orchestra. He juggles it all: a tune’s melody, harmony, and bass
lines—even percussion. His playing is fun, scary, and always inspiring.”

November
November
6 - Claire Lynch -
Claire Lynch’s sweetly pure voice has always been in high demand. Dolly Parton,
Linda Ronstadt, Ralph Stanley and Emmylou Harris (among others) have called on
her to sing on their records, while Lynch’s original songs have been covered by
A-list folks in the acoustic world. But it’s Claire Lynch leading her own band
that garners the most accolades – including 2 Grammy nominations, countless
specialized awards and other nominations - along with reverent standing ovations
for her shows at prestigious music festivals and theaters.

December 17:
The Palace Film Club presents
A Palace Tradition and Christmas Special
Showing of
It's A Wonderful Life.
Starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed
As the story goes...... George Bailey has
spent his entire life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has
always longed to travel but never had the opportunity in order to prevent rich
skinflint Mr. Potter from taking over the entire town. All that prevents him
from doing so is George's modest building and loan company, which was founded by
his generous father. But on Christmas Eve, George's Uncle Billy loses the
business's $8,000 while intending to deposit it in the bank. Potter finds the
misplaced money and hides it from Billy. When the bank examiner discovers the
shortage later that night, George realizes that he will be held responsible and
sent to jail and the company will collapse, finally allowing Potter to take over
the town. Thinking of his wife, their young children, and others he loves will
be better off with him dead, he contemplates suicide. But the prayers of his
loved ones result in a gentle angel named Clarence coming to earth to help
George, with the promise of earning his wings. He shows George what things would
have been like if he had never been born. In a nightmarish vision in which the
Potter-controlled town is sunk in sex and sin, those George loves are either
dead, ruined, or miserable. He realizes that he has touched many people in a
positive way and that his life has truly been a wonderful one.

January
Jan 14: Martin Luther King Planning Committee presents: To Kill A Mocking Bird.
Details soon.
January 15: Richard Smith -
There seems to be no limit to Richard’s ability
to quickly master whatever guitar style captures his fancy. The complex styles
of many guitar greats including Django Reinhardt, Les Paul, and Lenny Breau have
proved to be no impediment to his voracious musical appetite. Apart from his
guitar virtuosity, he is also an accomplished banjo and violin player.
Richard has toured around the world, surprising audiences everywhere with his
genius, showcasing a repertoire spanning an incredible range of musical styles
from country, bluegrass, mainstream jazz, modern pop and rock, to classical
guitar. Richard also plays several of John Phillip Souza’s marches and,
incredibly, comes close to sounding like an entire marching band – drums and
all.
Here’s what a few of his fellow guitarists have to say about him:
“The most amazing guy I know on the guitar.”
“He can play anything I know, only better.”
Chet Atkins, CGP

States Spectrum, “Much of the charm of a Gilewitz performance is in the stories
he tells. He wondered aloud to the audience how many ducks he could take out in
a fight if he were to be attacked by a flock of the sneaky waterfowl.”
