May 2: Bryan Bowers - Join us on for this special evening concert by Bryan Bowers when Tremont brings a little bit of the mountains to town. Bryan is a singer-songwriter, storyteller, and virtuoso on the autoharp. A recording artist for Flying Fish Records, his song “Berkeley Woman” was recorded by John Denver. He has recorded eight albums, and his latest, Bristlecone Pine, features Tim O’Brien and Sam Bush. A major artist on the traditional music circuit, Bryan has a dynamic personality and an uncanny ability to enchant a crowd in practically any situation. For nearly three decades, he has been to the autoharp what Earl Scruggs was to the five-string banjo. September

September 6: Tony McManus - "The best Celtic guitarist in the world" - - JOHN RENBOURN.It's hard to say much more than that. Tony is a must see Celtic guitarist who will hypnotize and mesmerize you. To find a unique voice on so ubiquitous an instrument as the acoustic guitar is quite
an achievement: to do so within a centuries old idiom where the instrument has no real history is truly remarkable. In little over ten years as a professional musician Tony McManus has come to be recognized throughout the world as the leading guitarist in Celtic Music. From early childhood his twin obsessions of traditional music and acoustic guitar have worked together to produce a startlingly original approach to this ancient art. In Tony’s hands the complex ornamentation normally associated with fiddles and pipes are accurately transferred to guitar in a way that preserves the integrity and emotional impact of the music.

Showtime 8:00PM Tickets $13 in advance and $15 at the Door.

September 13: IONA - IONA's music is a unique, acoustic weave of the traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany (France), the Isle of Man, Asturies and Galicia (Spain), as well as their transplants in America. Blending songs, dance tunes, and aires into a rich and stunning tapestry, their style is outstanding in an arena where these traditions are seldom intertwined.

Conceived in 1986, IONA was the musical offspring of lead singer, bouzouki, guitar and bodhrán player Barbara Ryan and wind section, Bernard Argent. With fiddlers Jim Queen (banjo and vocals as well) and Cassie Smith-Christmas and bass guitar player Chuck Lawhorn, IONA has become the leading Celtic group in the Mid-Atlantic region. They are all seasoned performers: entertainers who involve their audiences with the history and cultural backgrounds of the music, with teaching words to the songs -- even those sung in a Celtic tongue, with leading simple Breton dances, with humor, and with every emotion in the spectrum.

Dec. 13: Richard and Julie Smith - Richard Smith was born in Beckenham, Kent, England in 1971. One day, at the age of five, Richard was watching his father fingerpick “Down South Blues” (an Atkins-Travis recording) on his guitar. The boy begged his dad to show him how to play it, and finally he did. Despite the fact that Richard is left-handed and his dad’s right-handed guitar was not designed for tiny hands, by the end of that day, Richard learned and played both the chords and the melody. Within no time, the toddler outstripped his dad’s six-string prowess and it was clear to all who saw or heard him play that Richard was one of those rare phenomena -- a child prodigy.

Richard is truly a "Must See and Hear" Guitarist. He will blow your mind.

December 20: The Palace Film Club presents A Palace Tradition and Christmas Special Showing of It's A Wonderful Life. Starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed

As the story goes...... George Bailey has spent his entire life giving of himself to the people of Bedford Falls. He has always longed to travel but never had the opportunity in order to prevent rich skinflint Mr. Potter from taking over the entire town. All that prevents him from doing so is George's modest building and loan company, which was founded by his generous father. But on Christmas Eve, George's Uncle Billy loses the business's $8,000 while intending to deposit it in the bank. Potter finds the misplaced money and hides it from Billy. When the bank examiner discovers the shortage later that night, George realizes that he will be held responsible and sent to jail and the company will collapse, finally allowing Potter to take over the town. Thinking of his wife, their young children, and others he loves will be better off with him dead, he contemplates suicide. But the prayers of his loved ones result in a gentle angel named Clarence coming to earth to help George, with the promise of earning his wings. He shows George what things would have been like if he had never been born. In a nightmarish vision in which the Potter-controlled town is sunk in sex and sin, those George loves are either dead, ruined, or miserable. He realizes that he has touched many people in a positive way and that his life has truly been a wonderful one.
